Semantic chemical data integration The Internet of Chemistry enabled through chemical semantics

Big Data approaches have been maturing over the last few years and have made great strides in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. However, the main entity of interest, the chemical structure and its representation itself, are not properly managed in these data systems and are still mostly neglected or integrated as an add-on at best. While some point solutions have been developed to assist in this regard, big data integration based on chemical structure is still an unmet need at large. Chemantics has developed an infrastructure to enable the integration of chemical structures into Big Data approaches and opens up access to any chemical data in a semantic data framework.

We have developed a novel approach to enable chemistry integration with data providers, where chemical structures become analyzed and semantically, or as we call it, chemantically annotated. These chemantic annotations open up the possibility to link data based on chemical concepts and enable the manifestation of a linkable Internet of Chemistry, therefore enriching the data knowledge of the data provider as well as that of any customer. This infrastructure enables our users to explore the chemistry space based on any linked data set.

The enrichment and integration of chemistry data sets is an ongoing effort as we are constantly adding new sources to our chemantic integration engine. Data sets from the public domain, licensed from third parties, as well as proprietary or private sources can now be availed for analysis in concord with each other and therefore create a vast resource to any research environment. Individual data sources can be integrated independently of each other, which allows any data source to become licensed or to remain proprietary in nature.

Chemantics provides one interface to access any chemical structure within and outside of any organization while maintaining full data provenance and keeping data proprietary as necessary. This is achieved through our secure and federated infrastructure. We offer our infrastructure as a service as well as in any private cloud or on-premise installation. Our federated approach also allows for a hybrid deployment environment to meet any of our partner's requirements.

Our proprietary structure indexing algorithm allows sharing of chemantic attributes and other linked data to the extent the client or integration partner permits. These data can then be linked by partners or clients in the context of any other linked data without sharing any proprietary information, like the chemical structure itself. As the sharing of additional data might become required at a later time, these data can then be revealed as contractual changes allow.

The Chemantics team will work with you to integrate your chemical data sources into your local or global IoC. Depending on your infrastructure, we can integrate your chemical data change events into the chemantic framework in near real time after the initial data baseline has been established.
